Equity Hawks advance to African Club Championship

(MENAFN) Kenya's Equity Hawks earned a ticket to the women's basketball 2018 African Club Championship which is scheduled for November in Mozambique's Maputo.

Head coach David Maina stressed that the women's basketball team was able to advance to the tournament after claiming victory in the Africa Zone Five club championships in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Speaking to Xinhua, the team's coach commented: "it is a good chance for us to showcase our skills and the experience the team has gained."

The coach noted that "in last year's competition, we were making our debut in Luanda and we got hit badly to finish last. This time round in Maputo, it will be a different game."
Maina added "it is the medal bracket we are targeting now. Our focus is fully on the Africa Championships and we intend to do well."
