Tunisia foils terrorist operation, arrest two suspects

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Tunisian forces arrested two terrorists and thwarted a terrorist operation they intended to carry out in the central western province of Sousse, the Interior Ministry said.
The Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that a unit of the National Guard last week arrested two terrorists in the province of Sousse as they "were planning to carry out a terrorist operation." The ministry added that initial investigations and technical inspection of their electronic devices proved their contact with terrorist elements in Syria and Libya, who had given them two lessons on how to manufacture explosives and use of knife in combat.
The ministry's statement noted that the terrorists admitted that they were planning a terrorist operation without providing further information.
Tunisia has witnessed in recent years terrorist acts, most notably an armed attack on a tourist resort in Sousse, which resulted in dozens of victims, mostly British citizens. (end) ksj.mb
