The head of Kazakhstan's Almaty city Bauyrzhan Baibek met with Azerbaijani President's Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov, Kazakh media outlets reported.

During the meeting, the sides discussed many important issues, including the possible opening of Azerbaijan's trading house in Almaty.

Azerbaijani delegation proposed to make Almaty and the Azerbaijan's Ganja twin cities, in order to expand bilateral cooperation.

Hasanov also thanked the leadership of Almaty and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for supporting the opening of the Center for History and Culture of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan.

"I am sure that this will have positive impact on the rapprochement of our peoples and the exchange of scientific knowledge. We have already managed to hold several conferences dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the 95th anniversary of the birth of our national leader Heydar Aliyev. This support testifies to friendly and fraternal relations between our states," Hasanov said.
