ABU DHABI, 18th March, 2018 (WAM) -- Sarah bin Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State, has visited the UAE Pavilion at the Riyadh International Book Fair, where she viewed the activities of the many participating Emirati authorities.

Al Amiri said that the Fair is an important platform for promoting international culture and knowledge, especially in the Arabic language, while adding that it has a considerable influence on the region's creative and literary communities, highlighting the fact that the UAE presence helps promote the closer ties with Saudi Arabia.

"We thank Saudi Arabia for organising the fair and hosting the UAE as a guest of honour. The UAE and Saudi Arabia have always been partners in promoting excellence and positivity in the cultural sector, and our progress, strategies and directions have mutually developed," Al Amiri said.

The Minister also participated in a seminar on advanced sciences and the making of civilisations, where she spoke about the UAE's experience in investing in renewable energy to achieve a sustainable future, in line with its future goals and requirements.

Regarding the UAE's plans to explore space, Al Amiri said that space exploration is different from other sectors, as travelling to space is a challenging task, and electronic and mechanical equipment used in satellites must undergo many tests.

"If we are capable of designing and manufacturing for the space sector, then we are definitely capable of designing and manufacturing for all other sectors," she added.
