Jeff Flake: if GOP becomes Trump Party, it is "toast"
(MENAFN) "If we become the party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump, we are toast" Sen. Jeff Flake said on Friday to a Republican mayor as an off-the-record response to a question but was caught through his lapel mic.
The remark was uttered by Flake to John Giles Mayor of Mesa, Arizona after a town hall event when Giles inquired about the likelihood of running for president in 2020. During the event, Giles asked Flake "can we start the presidential campaign today?"
Flake was told by Giles "I am not throwing smoke at you but ... think how much fun it would be just to be the foil, you know, and to point out what an idiot this guy is" indicating Trump. "Anyway, hope you do it" he further added.
