
No extra fee on payment by credit card in Abu Dhabi
The department deemed this practice as illegal, pointing out that a fine of up to Dh 8,000 would be slapped against the errant establishment.
A decision to this effect was issued by the higher committee for consumer protection of Abu Dhabi Economic Development Department to prevent commercial facilities from collecting additional fees when a customer pays or makes a transaction by his/her credit card.If caught for the first time, the establishment will get a warning. If the violation is repeated, a fine of Dhs4,000 is slapped, which will go up to Dh6,000 for the third time, and Dhs8,000 for the fourth time.
