Oman- MoTC floats tenders for docks, livestock barns at Shinas Port

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- In a bid to transform Shinas Port into a port city facilitating regional trade and tourism, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has floated two tenders. The first tender is for design, manufacturing, and installation of floating pontoons, while the second tender is related to the construction of new livestock barns at the port.

The tender comes in the wake of Supreme Council for Planning approving the master plan for the port's development in phases.

The ministry added that the first tender will include the procurement of new steel pontoon with a capacity to withstand load of three tonnes/sq m, in addition to the current piers. The project consists of three main floating pontoons 20m long and 4m wide as well as a secondary pontoons with the same measurements. 'These pontoons will help the port receive more dhows and commercial ships,' the ministry stated.

The second tender will help the port to receive more livestock carriers coming from the neighbouring countries by establishing 41 barns, in addition to construction of allied buildings.
