Nissan to construct 1st auto plant in Burma

(MENAFN) Nissan Motor Company Ltd, the Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer, intends to build its first car assembly plant in Myanmar over the current year, based on recent reports.

The new factory will be located in Bago, 80km northeast of commercial hub Yangon and it is anticipated to have a yearly production capacity of 10,000 vehicles with about 300 employees.

Additionally, the Yokohama-based behemoth started selling cars in the Southeast Asian Republic back in 2013 and has set a clear target of selling a little over 1 thousand vehicles by 2019.

Nissan was the 6th largest carmaker in the world behind Toyota, GM, VW Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford in 2013, plus it's the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia and Mexico.
