Qatar Rail receives four tunnel boring machines

(MENAFN) Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has signed a joint venture with Italy's Salini Impregilo and comprising South Korea's S. K. Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd, and Qatar's Galfar Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting W.L.L for Doha Metro project, according to Qatar News Agency. Qatar Rail, the company overseeing the construction of the much-anticipated integrated railways network, received four tunnel boring machines (TBMs) for the first phase of the project, manufactured by Germany's Herrenknecht. A total of four TBMs; Lebretha Al Mayeda, Al Khor and Al Bidda, are proposed to bore the required rail tunnels for the Red Line North project.
