Egypt increases natural gas prices by 75 percent


(MENAFN) Official news agency MENA reported Egypt to have made a 75 percent raise in the prices of natural gas.

MENA explained the prices increase to be in line with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan agreement as well as a push of the execution of economic reform initiatives.

The report noted the decision to have been issued by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, and is founded on tiered gas pricing system.

It added that the price of one cubic meter of gas has been raised to 175 piasters from 100 piasters, around USD0.06, for personnel who consume 0 to 30 cubic meters.
