Apple offers repair program for 'faulty' MacBook, MacBook Pro keyboards

Back in 2015, Apple had redesigned its conventional keyboard to launch a new butterfly-style key switch with the 12-inch MacBook.
Of late, complaints about these keyboards have grown as the keys fail entirely when they come in contact with dust.
Apple has, finally, acknowledged the faulty nature of its keyboard and is now offering a repair program.

What really is the problem with these butterfly mechanism keyboards?
The fault
Reportedly, the butterfly-mechanism keyboards fail when they encounter dust. And considering their fragile design, the trouble is concerning as cleaning these keyboard switches requires precision.
However, Apple says "a small percentage of the keyboards" in certain MacBook/MacBook Pro models may face these issues:
-Letters or characters repeat unexpectedly,
-Letters or characters do not appear
-Key(s) feel sticky or do not respond in a consistent manner.
But, Apple has now offered a new repair program

Acknowledging the above listed issues, Apple has offered a worldwide warranty of up to 4-years (after the laptop was bought at retail), under its keyboard service program for eligible laptops.
Apple authorized service providers will service eligible MacBook/MacBook Pro keyboards, free of charge.
Notably, Apple is also offering a refund if you have paid for these repairs in the past.
