Archbishop Philip Wilson resigns after conviction


(MENAFN) An Australian Catholic archbishop, whom was found guilty of covering-up child sexual assault, is to resign from his position.

Philip Wilson, the archbishop of Adelaide, South Australia, has been convicted of covering up the sexual abuse of paedophile preacher.

Wilson declared: "It is appropriate that, in the light of some of his Honour's findings, I stand aside from my duties as Archbishop,"

He added: "If at any point in time it becomes necessary or appropriate for me to take more formal steps, including by resigning as Archbishop, then I will do so."
