Iran: US withdrawing decision not to affect oil exports

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh highlighted that US President Donald Trump's decision to pull out from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will not put any impact on Iran's crude exports, Fars news reported.

"Tehran"s oil exports to remain unchanged if the Iran nuclear deal is salvaged by the EU following the US withdrawal from the multinational accord," Zangeneh told reporters after his meeting with EU Energy Chief Miguel Arias Canete in Tehran.

He underlined that every new decision in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) needs unanimity, and said, "I believe that if the European Union helps us, the level of our oil exports will not change."

Under the JCPOA, signed in July 2015 between Tehran and the US, France, Germany, the UK, China and Russia, Iran agreed to scale back its nuclear activities in return for many western sanctions being lifted. It enabled Tehran to more than double its oil exports, which helped lift the country out of a deep recession.
