Pakistan- Another transgender person shot dead in Mansehra KP


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) MANSEHRA: Another transgender person shot dead in Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Friday night.

The initial reports claimed a transgender person identified as Muni went to attend an engagement ceremony where a scuffle took place with a violent man as a result he shot her dead.

Muni received a bullet on her forehead and died on the spot. However, the murderer was arrested by locals and handed over to the police while the locals also reported that police helped him escape from the scene.

On 23 April, a transwoman was shot dead by unidentified men in Swabi and another was killed on 28 March in Peshawar.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa TransAction Alliance, an organisation working for the rights of transgender persons, says it was 57th murder of a transgender person in KP since 2015. Farzana Jan, president of the Alliance had shown grave concern over the continuous attacks on transgender persons.

The National Commission of Human Rights had took suo moto notice of a murder of transgender person in Peshawar.
