Daikundi: District police chief held on rape charges


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) NIELI (Pajhwok): The police chief for the Kiti district of central Daikundi province has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a woman.

A credible security source, who declined to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News Syed Abu Hassan had been accused of raping a woman inside a police station Tuesday night.

He added a team from the provincial capital had been dispatched to the area for further investigations and Hassan was currently under interrogation.

Ali Akbar Natiqi, the governor€™s spokesman, said a woman claimed the district police chief had raped her but no action was taken on her complaint.

With Abu Hassan yet to comment on the charge, provincial police chief Syed Baqir Murtazavi reject the claim. Hassan has been serving as police chief for the past three years.
