(MENAFN) The Iranian Ministry of petroleum has denied claims of recording a drop in its oil exports to India, confirming that it actually saw 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) in April.
Reuters reported exports to India to have reached a 15 percent decline, as a response, the ministry declared "this volume of Iranian oil sales to India is unprecedented."
Citing the ministry's statement, Tasnim news agency reported "India is the second biggest customer of Iran's crude oil after China."
It continued "it did not cut purchases during the time of sanctions even though the United States put a lot of pressures on New Delhi to do so."
Reports have showed Iranian oil to have sold to Indian refiners an average of 450,000 bpd in the fiscal of 2017-2018, recording the most major purchase to be done.
