Turkey's Erdogan says US give Kurds weapons for free

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed that the US refuses to sell weapons to Turkey, but provides them to the Kurdish forces in Syria for free, said a report quoted by Bas News.

"We cannot buy weapons from the U.S. with our money, but unfortunately, the U.S. and the coalition forces give these weapons, this ammunition, to terrorist organizations for free," Erdogan told state-run channel NTV, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

The Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been backed by the US and the Coalition in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria.

Concerning the US military bases in Syria's Manbij and France's comments to join them, the Turkish top official said that Paris would make the "wrong decision" if it tries such a thing.
