Taliban kill 2 uprising commanders in Faryab raid


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Taliban militants attacked an uprising forces post in the Pashtunkot district of northern Faryab province last night, killing two commanders and taking away three others alive, a public representative said on Friday.

Faryab provincial council head Mohammad Tahir Rahmani told Pajhwok Afghan News the uprising forces fought off the rebels until Friday morning. In the clash, two uprising commanders Khair Mohammad and Aziz were killed and three others were kidnapped. €œThe post belongs to my father Ghulam Qader Rahmani,€ said Rahmani.

Deputy provincial police chief Col. Mohammad Naeem Andarabi confirmed the attack in Paskhunkot district, but said he had no exact figures for casualties.

Local sources said the Taliban after overrunning the post, killed commanders Khair Mohammad and Aziz and took away three others with them.

The Taliban have so far said nothing in this regard.
