Pakistan- Workers Welfare Board staff in Charsadda appeals CJP for regularization of services


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) CHARSADDA: Scores of contractual employees including women teachers of Workers Welfare Board have staged a protest demonstration on Friday over non regularization of thier jobs.

The staff of Workers Welfare Board held aloft banners and placards inscribed with slogans asking for provision of respect and rights to the teachers.

They appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to pay heed to their concerns and demanded regularization of thier services and sought service structure/rules.

The protestors said that over 30,000 staff of WWB is working on contract for the past many years which has created unrest among them, however, the authorities concerned were not ready to listen to their grievances.

The outraged president of WWB Union, Salman Hamayun showed anger and said they were hired in 2013 on contract and then they approached high court that ordered regularization of thier services. However, the provincial government opposed the decision and declined ti implement it,he explained and said 'We demand the Chief Justice of Pakistan to please work on their regularization process'.

The agitated staff said that Workers Welfare Board was created throughout the country in 1971 with the aim to provide quality education to labors children. Before 2011, the employees were supposed to work for 2.5 years as a precondition to become permanent employees. However, they claim that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government did not follow rules then.
