Turkey records over 33,000 road accidents in March

In March, 33,218 road accidents were registered in Turkey, reads a report by Turkey's General Directorate of Security.

According to the report, 118 people died as a result of the road accidents in March 2018, while the number of the wounded hit 13,599.

During the period, the largest number of road incidents occurred as a result of side-on collision (4,221 cases).

In addition, there were 22 cases of chain road accidents.

"High speed was a cause to 5,613 road accidents that occurred during this period," the report reads.

Furthermore, 267 road accidents occurred because of drunk driving.

In March, drivers were fined for 1.1 million Turkish liras.

In January-March 2018, 93,966 road accidents were registered in Turkey.
