(MENAFN) A proposal for video assistant referees to be used at 2018 World Cup in Russia was announced to have been approved.
Following Saturday negotiations in Zurich, the International Football Association Board (Ifab) have "unanimously approved" of the technology on a permanent basis.
Another meeting is also scheduled to take place on 16 March so as to reach a decision regarding the use of VAR at the World Cup, as confirmed by Fifa president Gianni Infantino.
"As of today, video assistant refereeing is part of football," Fifa president declared as he added "we hope and encourage a favourable decision in this respect because we are very positive about VAR."
