Maid who was allegedly tortured rescued in Kuwait

(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino domestic worker who accused her employers of physical and sexual abuse has been rescued by officials from the Philippines' Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Kuwait.

On Monday, Marjorie Lizada, 24, who went to Kuwait in October 2016, told her relatives in the Philippines that she was being abused by her employers, reported.

Lizada said her employers removed her toenails and threatened to kill her, and a family member molested her.

On Tuesday, Lizada was rescued from her employer's home by officials from OWWA and is now preparing for her repatriation. She has contacted her family and assured them that she is safe.

OWWA administrator Hans Cacdac said the organization was processing Lizada's exit papers and would get her home soon.
