'Normandy meeting' to be held in near future Foreign Ministry


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) A meeting in the"Normandy format" at the level of the foreign ministers of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia will be held in the near future.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said this on the air of the Svoboda Slova[Freedom of Speech] Talk Show, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Normandy meeting was scheduled for 18:00 on Friday [February 16], and then we rescheduled it several times. As a result of calls to each other, we agreed that it would be held in the near future," the diplomat said.

According to him, the meeting in the "Normandy format" on the margins of the Munich Security Conference did not take place due to various reasons. The German foreign ministerwas forced to urgently leave for Berlin to meet the freed Turkish journalist, so he did not have time to return.

"As for the French minister, he could not attend the meeting from the very beginning," Klimkin said.

As reported, the meeting was scheduled for February 16, but due to the fact that the German foreign ministerwas forced to urgently leave for Berlin, it was canceled.

On Friday, February 15, Klimkin met with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.
