Pakistan- Fata Grand Alliance to convene jirga on extension of PHC's jurisdiction to tribal areas


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The anti-merger group of tribal eldes, Fata Grand Alliance on Saturday announced to hold a grand Jirga in Islamabad to discuss merits and demerits of Fata's merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and extension of jurisdiction of Peshawar High Court to tribal areas.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the alliance where Malik Waris Khan, Khan Marjan and other leaders addressed the jirga.

Waris Khan said that lawyers, elders and political leaders would be invited to the Jirga in Islamabad to discuss merits and demerits Fata's merger, and extension of court jurisdiction.

Khan Marjan said that tribal youth would continue to die in fake encounters like Naqibullah Mehsud as long as tribal people didn't get their rights. Another meeting has been called on Sunday to decide venue and date of Jirga in Islamabad.

FGA has been opposing Fata's merger with KP and demand to make Fata a separate province and jirga system.
