Fiat Chrysler relocating truck production

(MENAFN) Fiat Chrysler (FCA) declared investing over 1b USD in a Michigan truck plant and relocating its production of heavy duty pickups from Mexico to Michigan in 2020.

The carmaker's decision was made following President Trump's threat to withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) or renovate the deal.

According to FCA, moving the operations to Michigan will add 2,500 new jobs in the US to support production of heavy-duty truck.

The company also declared making a special bonus payment of 2,000 USD to some 60,000 FCA hourly and salaried employees in the US, excluding senior leadership, in the second quarter of this year.
