Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has opened its first representative office in Beijing, China, followed by two other branch offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

As part of its efforts to promote Qatar's tourism offerings, QTA is organising a training course this week for destination management companies to ensure access to and benefit from the potential of the Chinese tourism market in cooperation with the 'Marhaba Chinese programme, QNA reported.

The training course will be held next Tuesday at the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center, where destination management companies will have the opportunity to learn more about the needs and requirements of Chinese travelers and provide their representatives with an overview of the Chinese travel and tourism market.

The course will also provide participants with necessary guidance on the administrative and contractual procedures in place in the Chinese market.

'We are pleased to provide expert support to our private sector partners and to encourage them to benefit from the knowledge of specialists, said Jawahar Al Khuzai, Head of Communication at QTA, adding it aims to enable the hospitality, tourism and retail sectors in Qatar to meet the requirements of Chinese tourists and market their offerings across Chinese tourism platforms.

Since Qatar has become a recognised tourist destination in China, tourism sector members in Qatar are now able to enter the largest overseas tourism market in the world, meaning that they should be ready to offer exceptional tourist experiences to Chinese visitors, she said.

Last September, Qatar marked a tourist destination in China, allowing it to receive tourist delegations from China and promote Qatar as a tourist destination within the Chinese market. The approved tourist destination system seeks to ensure that Chinese visitors have safe and reliable travel services, whether provided by travel agencies in China or tour operators outside of China.

The 'Welcome to Chinese program seeks to ensure that members of the tourism sector in the countries that grant the accredited tourist destination are ready and qualified to receive and attract Chinese visitors.

The strength of the Chinese economy and the increasing openness of the country's tourism policies to the outside world, China's foreign tourism market has been the world's top tourist market since 2012 and is expected to continue its current growth in the future.
