QU signs pact with Behavioural Healthcare Centre for research


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) and the Behavioural Healthcare Centre have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance their collaboration in the field of behavioural health.
The MoU was signed by CHSS director Dr Kaltham al-Ghanim and Behavioural Healthcare Centre director Rashid bin Mohamed al-Hamdah al-Nuaimi in the presence of CAS associate dean for research and graduate studies Prof Ibrahim al-Kaabi, CHSS faculty and researchers, and representatives of the Behavioural Healthcare Center. It aimed to provide effective treatment, training and awareness services in the field of behavioural health, and to shape highly qualified professionals in the field of behavioural and cognitive therapy.
The terms of the MoU include collaboration between CHSS and the Behavioural Healthcare Centre on conducting research that meets the needs of Qatari society. Both parties will collaborate on developing, evaluating and implementing policies and programmes to advance research in Qatar. They will also collaborate on the exchange of technical, consultative and training services.
Other areas of collaboration include the organisation of joint conferences, seminars and exhibitions.
Prof al-Kaabi said, 'Through its Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, QU offers specialised training programmes that contribute to bridging the gap between academia and industry. The University also provides many collaboration opportunities for the development and implementation of joint research, in line with the best international standards and practices.
Dr al- Ghanim said, 'This agreement highlights CHSS role in promoting quality and interdisciplinary research. It also underlines QU's commitment to meet the needs of society by providing practical research outcomes in the field of human and social sciences.
Al-Nuaimi said, 'The Behavioural Healthcare Centre is committed to raising community awareness of behavioural health by educating youth about the dangers of behavioural deviations. The centre is also committed to developing and integrating appropriate treatment plans. In this context, the centre will offer a number of training programmes in 2018, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of rehabilitation services in various behavioural health institutions.
