Mike Pompeo Joins Fire Point Advisory Board

(MENAFN) Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has become a member of the advisory board for the Ukrainian military contractor Fire Point, while the company faces scrutiny from anti-corruption authorities, a news agency reported.

Last week, Ukrainian anti-graft agencies revealed a large-scale embezzlement operation allegedly orchestrated by Timur Mindich, a long-time associate of President Vladimir Zelensky.

Local media indicate that Fire Point is under investigation due to potential connections with the businessman.

According to the news agency, the defense firm is recruiting “prominent industry figures” to its advisory team ahead of launching a manufacturing facility in Denmark.

In a recent move, the company established an advisory board and included Pompeo, who previously served as the United States’ top diplomat during President Donald Trump’s first term, the news agency noted.

The ongoing investigation is examining a former Fire Point administrator for potential ties to Mindich and Aleksandr Zukerman, one of the entrepreneurs already formally charged in the case, a media outlet reported last week.

Fire Point, a leading Ukrainian drone manufacturer, is also confronting a longstanding corruption inquiry involving alleged kickback schemes.

Ukraine’s Western-supported National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has linked the ultimate ownership of the company to Mindich, according to the media outlet earlier this year.

However, the agency did not provide detailed explanations for how this connection was established, and no clear evidence has been publicly disclosed, the publication noted.
