UK: children and pensioners suffer an increase in poverty

(MENAFN) The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is opening the public's eyes to the agony of countless people who struggle to cope with poverty in the UK.

Over the past four years, another 700,000 children and pensioners of the UK are living in poverty as households suffer with below 60 percent of the median income.

In twenty years for the first time, poverty in these groups appears to continue its increase, as explained by the charity. However, ministers confirmed that their support is helping out families and pensioners in pulling them out of poverty.
