(MENAFNEditorial) First-of-its-kind international exhibition on agricultural investments to offer unique perspective on current and future Agriculture landscape worldwide
Abu Dhabi-UAE: 25 October, 2017: Abu Dhabi is gearing up to showcase Agriscape 2017, an international exhibition dedicated to agricultural investments abroad and organized by the Abu Dhabi Food Security Alliance (ADFSA) in collaboration with the Food Security Center Abu Dhabi (FSCAD) under the patronage of His Highness sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Set to run from November 14 to 15, 2017 at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, the first-of-its-kind event will provide companies seeking investment opportunities in the farmland sector abroad with a comprehensive overview of current and future global trends in agriculture, while enhancing the role of local players in fostering national food security. It will convene some 51 exhibitors offering agri-land and other agri-assets from more than 40 countries, and 300 buyers and key decision makers from companies actively involved in food security and international farmland and agro-processing sectors from around the globe. The closed, ‘by invitation only' event will enable participants to discuss and compare the latest opportunities available in the farmland and agri-food investment domains.
Agriscape 2017 will feature a unique format, grouping an exhibition, workshops, preset one-to-one meetings and networking sessions among agri-land buyers.
His Excellency Khalifa Al Ali, CEO, Food Security Center Abu Dhabi (FSCAD), said: 'We are delighted to host the inaugural edition of Agriscape that demonstrates the growing emphasis the Abu Dhabi Food Security Alliance places on integrating the efforts of key stakeholders to ensure the sustainability, stability and availability of secure food supplies under all circumstances.
'Agriscape 2017 will mark a major milestone in catalyzing strategic collaboration among key players to ensure continued investment in agribusinesses that can in turn help achieve sustainable productivity of farmlands and long-term food security. We are confident that the event will enhance Abu Dhabi's position as a major facilitator of investment in this important sector.
The Food Security Centre - Abu Dhabi (FSCAD) was set up in 2010 to ensure the access of all citizens and residents to healthy, safe and nutritious food, even during periods of crisis.
Dr Saad Khalil, food security consultant in Riyadh and former director of King Abdullah's Initiative for Saudi Agricultural Investment Abroad, said: 'Agriscape 2017 provides an unmissable platform for the key stakeholders in the agribusiness sector to examine challenges and explore investment opportunities. While GCC, China and Singapore are among the countries actively involved in agricultural investments abroad, countries in Africa, Australia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Russia are among the major recipients of agriculture investment due to the abundance of natural resources including fertile land, water, among others. Given the importance of food security for investing countries, their private sector with expertise and access to capital and state-of-the-art production technologies continues to seek investment opportunities in the farmland sector abroad to address the challenges posed by the scarcity of natural resources.
Agriscape is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Food Security Alliance, a consortium of government institutions and private sector companies that aims to foster partnerships to achieve sustainable food security through cooperation.
Agriscape is organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi Ports, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi and Al Dahra Agriculture.
