Ukrainian Anna Muzychuk wins European Women's Rapid Chess Championship


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) October 22, Ukrainian chess player Anna Muzychuk, who is the current world rapid & blitz chess champion, won the EuropeanWomen's Rapid Chess Championship2017 in Monaco.

Muzychuk scored 9 out of 11 possible points, won seven games and tied another four games, Sport.ua portal reports.

The climax in the struggle for the gold medal happened in the 11th final round, when Hanna defeated French Pauline Guichard.

Former Ukrainian citizen Kateryna Lagno, who now represents Russia, took silver having scored 8.5 points.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman congratulated Ukrainian chess player Anna Muzychuk on winning the gold medal of the EuropeanWomen's Rapid Chess Championship2017.

"I congratulate Ukrainian chess player Anna Muzychuk on phenomenal performance and winning the gold medal of the EuropeanWomen's Rapid Chess Championship," the Head of Ukrainian Government wrote on Twitter.
