Oman- ITA organises second edition of IT Kids Innovation Theatre


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- With the vision of developing children's abilities in Information Communication Technologies (ICT), the Information Technology Authority (ITA), in cooperation with Middle East College and other public and private partners, launched the second edition of the month-long training programme 'IT Kids Innovation Theatre', on Monday.

The programme was launched at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat with the participation of 40 children from different parts of the sultanate, stated a press release.

It aims at developing and enhancing children's capabilities in the IT field and encouraging them to utilise their IT knowledge, ideas and imagination to produce real services and products under the supervision of specialists in the field. It also targets qualifying and empowering them to be future IT entrepreneurs.

The programme includes technical and non-technical skills development under different fields, which are, digital media development (like animation, film production, etc); applications development (electronic games and mobile applications); hardware and IT innovation (robotics, programming and other related application development) along with soft skills development in the areas of personality development, interpersonal effectiveness, mind mapping, entrepreneurship development, security, HSE and problem solving.

IT Kids Innovation Theatre will provide opportunity for the children to work in real environment and will also include displaying the developed applications and innovations at the accompanying exhibition to be held at the closing ceremony at the end of the programme.

This programme is a great opportunity to make the best of the talented kids' summer vacation by enhancing their personal and technical skills in addition to becoming familiar with the IT field, added the release.

In association with Microsoft and Oman IT Society, IT Kids Innovation Theatre will have an Open Day for children under the name Code and Create @ 2 Hours of Code. The main objectives of it is to introduce coding languages to students, expand and enhance their knowledge and skills in coding and encourage them to apply coding languages in developing applications, websites and games..

Registration is open for students of all nationalities, in the age group between 8-15 years.
