12 killed, 35 injured in fighting in Benghazi, Libya

(MENAFN) Fighting in East Libya, Benghazi had resulted in killing at least 12 men, wounding 35, although their commander declared victory.

Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National army (LNA) was trying to sweep up the last pockets of resistance in Sabri, in which armed groups still hold territory.

Moreover, the battle in Benghazi between Haftar's LNA and an array of Islamist militants were part of a broader conflict since Libya sipped into turmoil following 2011's fall of Nuammar Ghaddafi.

Also, Haftar had announced the end of the campaign in televised speech on Wednesday.
