Air traffic in S. Korea jumps by 3.8% last month


(MENAFN) According to the official data, South Korea"s air traffic in has increased by 3.8% in April compared with the same month of 2016 on the back of high demand on non-Chinese routes.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation number of revealed the passengers on Korean and global routes run by local airline carriers has surged to hit 8.68 million in the preceding month.

Moreover, the ministry further announced "An increase in travel demand on routes to and from Japan and Southeast Asian countries helped offset sharp declines in demand on Chinese routes last month".

Additionally, the government data also showed that the number of travelers on Chinese routes decreased by 47% year-over-year in the cited month.
