UAE- Energy Authority participates in Singapore International Energy Week

ABU DHABI, 24th October, 2016 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Energy Authority is participating in Singapore International Energy Week, which being held until 28th October.

Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Energy Authority and Chairman of Board of Directors of the Regulation and Supervision Bureau, will lead the country's delegation, and will be accompanied by members from the Water, Electricity and Wastewater Sector of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including representatives from the Regulation and Supervision Bureau, Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company, and the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The participation comes as a response to an invitation from the Umej Singh Bhatia, Ambassador of Singapore, to exchange experiences with Singaporean counterpart on developing policies and strategies for the Water and Electricity Sector. This will allow the delegation to view the latest developments and studies of Singapore in the field of renewable energy, energy and water demand management and best practices in customer services.

Al Hamed said, "The delegation's visit came to strengthen the ties and relations with Singapore, especially in the water and energy sector and to exchange experiences in this field. The delegation aims to explore experiences of other countries in developing policies and strategies that will benefit the emirate in ensuring the sustainability of the water and electricity sector, and improve customers' satisfaction by targeting best practices to simplify and improve the efficiency of services provided to customers in Abu Dhabi."

Singapore International Energy Week is a platform to bring together experts, policy makers, regulators and operators of the energy sector in Asia and the world. As part of the participation, the delegation will be meeting with a number of government agencies, including policy makers and regulators of water and electricity sector in Singapore, to exchange experiences and discuss topics of common interest.

This will include topics of development of implementation of water and power policies and strategies, water resources management, demand management and rationalisation of consumption.

The meetings will also be covering discussions related to policies of selecting the energy mix, promoting the use of renewable energy for buildings and houses, the infrastructure for electric vehicles charging, and the areas of researches and innovation in the water and electricity sector.
