Morocco- Maradona to Participate in Opening Ceremony of COP 22

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Former Argentinian football icon Diego Armando Maradona will attend the opening ceremony of COP 22, which is scheduled to be held from November 7 through 18 in Marrakech, according to Moroccan news outlet Le 360.

Last week, Morocco World News reported that Maradona will arrive in Morocco on November 4 to participate in the 'gala match' celebrating the 41st Anniversary of Morocco's Green March on November 6 in Morocco's Saharan Capital, Laayoune.

Last year, Maradona participated in the first gala match organized on the 40th Anniversary of Green March, alongside Egyptian football player Mohamed Aboutrika and Morocco's World Kickboxing Champion Badr Hari, and several other international stars.

Upon his arrival in Morocco, Maradona received a warm welcome from thousands of fans who waited for him in Laayoune.

'This is my first visit to Morocco, but hopefully it will not be the last. I loved the warm hospitality I received and this is what I cherish most,' Maradona said.

The football legend drew attention from the Moroccan press by showing his admiration for the Moroccan traditional dance, and by wearing the regional Saharan outfit. He also took the opportunity to visit Marrakech during his four-day trip.
