At least 100 people killed 350 injured in South India temple fire

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI April 10 (KUNA) -- At least 102 people were killed and more than 350 others injured in a major fire at one of the Hindu temples in Kollam district of South Indian state of Kerala.
The fire broke out in the Paravur Puttingal Devi temple at around 3:30 in the morning during the annual fireworks ceremony.
The injured were shifted to the nearby hospitals for treatment while many died before reaching the hospitals.
A firework spark caused the devastating fire in a storehouse of the fireworks nearby causing massive human and material losses.
Doctors at the hospitals are expecting the death toll to go up sharply. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi meanwhile expressed his condolences to the victims of the tragedy and promised to visit the temple soon to take stock of the situation arising due to the tragedy.(end) atk.tg
