Kuwait- Cyber crime law in effect from Jan 12

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdulhamid Al- Awadhi announced Sunday that cyber crime will come into effect on Jan 12, 2016. In a statement, Al-Awadhi said the ministry is working according to a clear strategy to sustain security and stability in the country through activation of laws intended for controlling all kinds of crimes, particularly information technology related crime. He noted 997 of such crimes were recorded in 2013 and the figure shot up to 1,212 in 2014. He urged all concerned security systems to prepare laws to toughen punishments against violators. He also said the Interior Ministry realized the dimension of electronic crimes in the early stages and established a department to control the menace. The sectors has since supported the ministry to be acquainted with modern scamming techniques which are widespread in the Internet. The new law is expected to 'knock out' any swindler who tries to cheat people or infiltrate their privacies.
