Study Reveals Pain Relief Drug Does Not Just Kill Pain But Also Emotions

Orlando FL – June 12 2015 – Pain relief drugs have been widely used for many years. Individuals who resort to these Pharmaceutical drugs often suffer from arthritis pain. There have been quite a number of side effects associated with using these medications including psychiatric ones.

A study reveals pain relief drugs do not just kill pain but also emotions. The psychiatric effects include dulled emotional responses to both negative and positive stimuli. While the public is already aware of the side effects usually caused by pain relief drugs not all understand the danger they pose to health.

“One of the alternatives that arthritis sufferers resort to is the use of natural supplements such as turmeric which has anti-inflammatory properties” said Divine Bounty spokesperson Melissa Scott.

A Lancet review was conducted in 2013 and it involved an evaluation of 754 clinical trials. The lead researcher revealed that the use of pain relief drugs such as NSAIDs could double a person’s risk of heart failure. There is even a pain management drug that is associated with thousands of deaths due to cardiovascular ailments. Long-term users of these pain relief medications are believed to be more susceptible to heart attacks and cardiac deaths.

According to experts pain relief drugs are taken by many people as easily and quickly as eating candies. However they do not realize that even if the medications can help with reducing pain and inflammation they do not in any way address the root cause of the symptoms. In a new study these pharmaceutical drugs do not only affect the body but also emotions.

The journal Psychology Science published a new study and it found that individuals who took a pain reliever evaluated undesirable stimuli less negatively. They also evaluated pleasant stimuli less positively than those in the placebo group. The participants were told to take the medication and a placebo in liquid form. None of them had any idea what they were taking. After the 60-minute waiting period they were instructed to respond to pictures with positive and negative events.

Apparently the study demonstrates the possibility that pain-killers could potentially dull the intensity of physical and psychological experiences. Experts suggest that consumers should not only be aware of the physical side effects of these medications but also the psychological ones.

Arthritis sufferers who do not want to be exposed to the physical and psychological effects of pain relief drugs may turn to natural alternatives such as curcumin supplements. Curcumin is an active ingredient of the medicinal ancient spice turmeric. It contains powerful anti-inflammatory antibacterial and antioxidant properties ()
