OIC chief, Niger Pres. discuss bilateral relations

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Visiting President of the Republic of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou and the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani, discussed on Thursday bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Muslim world.
In a press statement, the OIC stated that President Issoufou and Madani reviewed a wide range of issues of mutual interest and concern as well as joint Islamic actions.
The two also raised the issues of prevailing situations in Palestine, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Mali and the Sahel.
Discussions also tackled combating violent extremism and terrorism by groups that continue to smear image of Islam and destabilize some OIC Member States.
Madani further briefed the President on the activities and initiatives of the OIC in various domains including the planned Extraordinary Summit on Palestine, the Science and Technology Summit, the emergency Ministerial meeting on Yemen, and the forthcoming Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting in Kuwait at the end of the month.
President Issoufou expressed satisfaction with the various peace endeavors of the OIC and assured him of Niger's unflinching support.
The meeting was attended by the accompanying entourage of the President which included several ministers and senior high ranking OIC officials.
