100% success for Emirati trainees enrolled in Mafraq Hospitals Academic Residency Program


(MENAFNEditorial) Mafraq Hospital, championing Emirati healthcare, announced a 100 per cent pass rate of Emirati trainees enrolled in the hospital's internal medicine and paediatric residency program in 2013 Mafraq Hospital is owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA)



The accredited ACGME-I (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International) residency programs were launched by SEHA in 2012. They consist of 17 training program for resident physicians across eight medical specialties at five of SEHA's teaching hospitals. Mafraq Hospital's Academic Department offers trainees a four year path to achieve broad clinical competency training in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine



The hospital's Academic Department, program directors and faculty of experts are trained and highly experienced Emiratis who are leaders in their respective fields. "The program is part of Mafraq Hospital's commitment to provide training with an emphasis on well-balanced and hands-on experience that prepares members of our community for careers as generalists or sub-specialists", she added.

The UAE was ranked as the second country in the world to receive the ACGME-I institutional and program accreditation, which is considered as a milestone in the healthcare sector. The ACGME-I accreditation is intended to benefit the public, protect the interests of residents, and improve the quality of teaching, learning, research, and professional practice. "Mafraq Hospital is one of a handful of hospitals outside the U.S to have received the highly coveted AGCME-I accreditation. Our goal in this ACGME-I Accreditation journey is to improve both education and patient safety in order to gain the public trust. It also allows our residents to meet international standards and benchmarks the hospital amongst top players in healthcare", said Dr Amine Rakab, Chairman of Academic Affairs and Consultant, Internal Medicine at Mafraq Hospital said.



The residency program covers various specialties that include Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology and Transitional Year.
