(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) A wide array of crimes against humanity, arising from "policies established at the highest level of State," have been committed and continue to take place in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, according to a UN report released Monday, which also calls for urgent action by the international community to address the human rights situation in the country, including referral to the International Criminal Court. In a 400-page set of linked reports and supporting documents, based on first-hand testimony from victims and witnesses, the UN Commission of Inquiry on human rights in the DPRK has documented in great detail the "unspeakable atrocities" committed in the country. Meanwhile, North Korea rejected as mere fabrication, the report by the Independent Commission of Inquiry set up to examine human rights violations in the country. North Korea's representative in Geneva, So Se Pyong said the witnesses who testified before the commission were defectors and criminals who had escaped from the country. He accused the United States and other hostile forces of attempting to use the commission of inquiry to eliminate the leadership of the North Korea and its socialist system
