Court Orders Arrest Of Organizer In UAH 170M Embezzlement Case At Tashlyk Plant

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported on Facebook that the investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered pre-trial detention for the suspect, who is described as the de facto owner of several companies and the organizer of the scheme, Ukrinform reports.

The court also set an alternative bail amount of UAH 30 million, along with a series of procedural obligations in case the bail is posted.

Prosecutors argue that the bail amount is insufficient to mitigate the risks that justified the detention and are preparing an appeal against the ruling of the investigating judge.

As reported earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine uncovered a corruption scheme involving the embezzlement of nearly UAH 170 million from Energoatom during the construction of the Tashlyk Pumped Storage Power Plant in the Mykolaiv region.

Among the suspects are the organizer of the scheme – the actual owner of several companies – and a former head of a department within the Atomproektengineering division of Energoatom.
