Sarah Shelley is a Post Doctoral Research Associate in Evolutionary Palaeobiology. Her research uses fossils, anatomy and evolutionary trees to investigate major transitions in vertebrate evolution, from the early diversification of tetrapods to the origins and ecological radiation of mammals. Much of her work focuses on how fossil mammals responded to major environmental and evolutionary change, particularly during the Cretaceous and Paleocene, including the aftermath of the end-Cretaceous mass extinction. She is especially interested in how anatomical data, phylogenetics and deep-time macroevolutionary analyses can reveal how animals evolved, dispersed and adapted across ancient landscapes.
