Airport Road Maintenance To Start Wednesday Night-Ministry

Amman, June 2 (Petra) –Ministry of Public Works and Housing is scheduled to begin maintenance work on the damaged sections of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) road extending from Madaba Bridge to Amman's Seventh Circle, starting Wednesday night.

According to a ministry statement Sunday, the process is part of the central tender issued to maintain and rehabilitate main roads in the Kingdom's Central Region, funded by a loan from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, at an estimated cost of approximately JD5.9 million.

Work on the airport road begins 2 months after the launch of this vital project, aimed to upgrade the main route and keep pace with the Kingdom's rapid economic and urban growth.

The project also aims to improve road efficiency to provide the "highest levels of safety for citizens and alleviate traffic congestion." On its goals, the ministry said the effort will focus on addressing the most-damaged sections due to high axle loads and urban development in the surrounding areas.

Given the road's strategic importance and the heavy traffic on this route, the ministry will conduct maintenance work during nighttime hours without closing the highway to traffic flow.

The ministry urged public awareness and cooperation, as essential for the success of the renovation work, mainly compliance with safe driving practices and instructions from field teams and partners in the Public Security Directorate.
