US Strike on Suspected Drug Vessel in Eastern Pacific Leaves Two Dead
(MENAFN) The US military carried out a strike on an alleged drug-trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, according to US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), as reported.
Officials said intelligence indicated the vessel was operating along established narcotics-trafficking routes and was involved in drug-smuggling activity. In a statement shared on the US social media platform X, SOUTHCOM said: “Two male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No US military forces were harmed,”

However, the operations have drawn criticism from legal experts and human rights organizations, who argue that the strikes may violate international law and could constitute extrajudicial killings. They contend that those targeted may in some cases be civilians rather than combatants.
