Three Arrested In Karnataka's Mandya Bar Brawl Murder Case

(MENAFN- IANS) Mandya (Karnataka), May 25 (IANS) The Karnataka Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a newly married man following a bar brawl in Maddur taluk of Mandya district, officials said on Monday.

The accused have been remanded to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway, according to Mandya Superintendent of Police V.J. Shobharani.

The incident had taken place on May 19, at K. Honnalagere village in Maddur taluk, where 29-year-old Sunil was hacked to death following a quarrel that reportedly began inside a bar. A case was registered at the Maddur Police Station following the incident. Sunil had reportedly got married six months ago.

The arrested accused have been identified as Nishanth, Karthik of Ajjahalli village in Maddur taluk, and Ravi of Gulurdoddi.

According to the police, Nishanth had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from a man named Ashok, who had been repeatedly demanding repayment of the loan. Police said Nishanth had allegedly brought a long stick in his car with the intention of confronting Ashok.

On the day of the incident, Nishanth was reportedly consuming alcohol at Deepa Bar in K. Honnalagere and was in an intoxicated state. Police said he repeatedly called out“boss, boss” to the bar cashier. At a nearby table, Sunil and his friends were also drinking.

During the exchange, Sunil allegedly questioned Nishanth, leading to a verbal altercation between the two groups. Though some people intervened and separated them, the dispute escalated later on the road outside the bar.

Police said a scuffle broke out between the two groups, during which Nishanth and his associates allegedly attacked and murdered Sunil.

After the accused fled the scene, the Mandya SP formed a special team to trace and arrest them. The three accused were subsequently arrested and produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
