Türkiye Coordinates Return of Citizens Detained After Gaza Aid Flotilla Interception

(MENAFN) Türkiye has stated that it is actively working to secure the safe return of its nationals detained following an Israeli interception of a Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla, according to official remarks.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkish institutions are coordinating efforts to ensure the protection and repatriation of citizens detained during the incident involving the Global Sumud Flotilla.

In statements shared on social media, he indicated that special flights were expected to operate later in the day to bring Turkish nationals home, along with participants from other countries who were also part of the aid convoy.

The government emphasized that it is taking steps both to safeguard its citizens’ rights and to continue fulfilling what it described as humanitarian responsibilities toward civilians in Gaza.

Officials also reiterated Türkiye’s continued political and humanitarian support for the Palestinian population amid the ongoing situation.
