French Lawmakers Condemn Israeli Interception of Gaza-Bound Aid Flotilla
(MENAFN) French politicians have strongly criticized a recent Israeli interception of the Global Sumud aid flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters, describing it as a serious breach of international norms.
According to reports, European Parliament Left Group co-chair Manon Aubry called the operation “a new act of piracy” and accused it of showing “a blatant disregard for international law.” She also expressed solidarity with the activists involved, saying on X, “Full support for those who refuse to look the other way in the face of the genocide in Palestine and war crimes.”
According to reports, left-wing French politician Jean-Luc Mélenchon also voiced support for the flotilla participants, stating that they were confronting what he described as “the world's most immoral army” in opposition to “a sadistic genocide.”
LFI Member of the European Parliament Emma Fourreau similarly criticized the operation, saying on X, “Once again with complete impunity, war criminal Netanyahu tramples international law. Support for the comrades standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”
Meanwhile, LFI parliamentary leader Mathilde Panot described the interception as “a new intolerable act of piracy by Netanyahu's army,” according to reports.
