London Tube Drivers Are Set for Strike Over Four-Day Week Plan

(MENAFN) According to reports, another round of industrial action is set to disrupt London Underground services after talks failed to resolve a dispute involving proposed changes to working patterns.

Drivers represented by the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union have voted against the voluntary introduction of a four-day working week with condensed hours, according to reports.

The union said Transport for London “has not made any attempt to engage in negotiation meetings to resolve this dispute.”

Transport for London described the planned strike action, which begins at 12:00 BST on Tuesday, as “disappointing,” and said drivers “can remain on a five-day working pattern,” according to reports.

The action is expected to halt services on several major lines, including the Circle, Piccadilly, and parts of the Metropolitan and Central lines, causing widespread disruption across the network.

According to reports, a second 24-hour strike is scheduled to begin at 12:00 on Thursday, with delays expected to continue into Friday.

Some disruption may be limited by members of the Aslef train drivers’ union, who have accepted the proposed changes and described the deal as “exactly the sort of deal every trade union should be trying to achieve,” according to reports.
